If you're a driven and ambitious individual, the ADF will teach you to lead teams, mentor others and manage complex scenarios as an officer. As long as you&rsquo;re a school leaver who has passed Year 12, you can join, learn to lead and mentor others.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Year 12 graduates or qualified professionals.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

As a Signals Officer in the Army Reserve, you’ll provide communications, information systems, cyberspace operations and electronic warfare support to the Army and wider ADF. In this part-time role that’s full of purpose, you’ll carry out tasks that will help enable the command and control of deployed forces on any operation, anywhere in the world. 

This meaningful role is part of the <a href="/careers/joining/pathways?page-tab=army ">Army Officer – Command career pathway</a>, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of being a leader to a team of soldiers, including mentorship, influence, problem solving, decision making and much more. No leadership experience is required, and you’ll be allocated to your specific role before you graduate from training.

This is an Army Officer – Command Pathway role. This means you'll enter the Army to be trained as a General Service Officer. You’ll receive world-class training that will build you from the ground up to command, lead and manage across a broad spectrum of environments within the Army and within a specialisation.

The area of your specialisation will depend on your preference, performance and position availability. Within your first posting out of training, you’ll apply these skills and likely lead a team of highly trained soldiers. As you progress in your career, you’ll be exposed to development opportunities across a range of postings to prepare you for your next leadership roles.

Army Officer – Command career pathways

You’ll play an important role in controlling the battle space by using a variety of means to ensure reliable, effective communication between Army command and battle units. Working on Army exercises and deployments, you’ll plan, deploy and maintain robust, scalable, secure local and wide area networks, helping deliver information services that are available 24/7. You’ll use your understanding of the electro-magnetic spectrum, communications systems and information technology to provide combat commanders with situational awareness and interfere with enemy electronic transmissions.

Serve your country in a part-time role that draws on your leadership abilities, managing teams responsible for communications, information systems and electronic warfare systems.
