Join without qualifications
There are many excellent career options in the ADF that generally don&rsquo;t require experience or qualifications. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need and be paid while you train.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those seeking general roles and career opportunities.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Air Force you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Non-technical

As you progress through your career, you’ll be able to pursue further training in a range of areas. Courses are held at the Defence Force School of Signals at Cabarlah, Qld and include but are not limited to:
<ul>
<li>Technical ELINT Analysis and Reporting </li>
<li>Tactical Data Exploitation and Analysis </li>
<li>Technical Signals Analysis – Basic</li>
<li>2nd Line Technical Signals Analysis. </li>
</ul>

Further training opportunities for Intermediate and Advanced ELINT courses are run by allied partners.

As an Intelligence Analyst (Signals), you’ll contribute directly to Defence’s electronic warfare and intelligence capabilities. Working across a wide range of ADF operations, you’ll support intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance activities through the targeted use of sophisticated technology.

Working with highly classified material and advanced software, you’ll draw on your specialised skills to turn electronic code and radar signals into tactically advantageous intelligence for the Air Force. You’ll also reverse engineer complex signals and give the ADF and our allied partners the information they need for complex electronic warfare operations. This sensitive and challenging field incorporates 2 types of signals analysis:
<ul>
<li>Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) – the analysis of non-communications emissions such as radars</li>
<li>Technical Signals (TECHSIGS) – the analysis of machine-generated communications.</li>
</ul>
