You may also be required to participate in exercises and deployments, including supporting allied forces and Australian Army and Royal Australian Navy operations, both in the Australia and overseas. 
The Australian intelligence community is highly integrated and there is close cooperation between Service and Civilian elements. As an AIA (SIGINT), you will find yourself working alongside Navy, Army, civilian and coalition personnel. There are currently excellent opportunities to undertake deployments in support of ADF operations and exercises. In addition there are limited positions for postings, and short duration specialist training courses in overseas locations.

You will be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Air Force you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications; and your pay increases as you progress through training. In addition to your salary you'll receive a variety of allowances, extra pay for relevant qualifications – plus 16.4% superannuation, a far higher rate than you're likely to find in the civilian world.

General Entry: Non-Technical

RAAF ELINT Analysis Course: 20 weeks This course is conducted at the Defence Force School of Signals, Electronic Warfare Wing, Cabarlah, QLD. It teaches the fundamentals and analysis of Electronic Intelligence. This is intelligence gained from electronic signals (eg radars). Areas of study, as they relate to electronic signals, include: <ul><li>Security procedures </li><li>Electronic Warfare</li><li>Propagation Theory </li><li>Radar Theory</li><li>SIGINT Organisational Procedures </li><li>Communication Structures and </li><li>Equipment Manipulation. </li></ul>

As an Intelligence Analyst (Signals), you&rsquo;ll have the ability to impact real world events in your day-to-day role. Working with the latest electronic warfare technology, you&rsquo;ll turn electronic code and radar signals into tactically advantageous intelligence for the Air Force.
<div class="p" >What you&rsquo;ll do</div>
Drawing on highly classified material and advanced software, you&rsquo;ll use specialised skills to reverse engineer complex signals and give the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and allied partners the information they need.
This sensitive and challenging field incorporates both Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) and Technical Signals (TECHSIGS) Analysis. ELINT is the analysis of non-communications emissions such as radars, and TECHSIGS is the analysis of machine-generated communications.
Your day-to-day tasks could include:
<ul>
 <li>Manipulating large volumes of data to map new and historical intelligence to a particular platform (e.g. aircraft)</li>
 <li>Identifying and correlating other forms of intelligence and reporting to enhance confidence levels in existing intelligence</li>
 <li>Providing timely briefs and reporting to deployed ADF and allied platforms</li>
 <li>Identifying unusual activity</li>
 <li>Analysing technical intelligence to identify radars, and their capabilities and functions</li>
</ul>

While an Intelligence Analyst (Signals) is a highly skilled profession, no prior experience is required. It is about process and high-level thinking, so if you have ambition and drive to succeed, we&rsquo;ll give you the training and skills to achieve those goals.
At your Initial Employment Training (IET), you&rsquo;ll be pushed to your limits and develop skills you never knew you had. This includes training across RADAR theory, Air Combat Fundamentals, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance concepts, electronic warfare, intelligence organisation, and more.
You&rsquo;ll be given the opportunity to develop your skills in a wide range of settings, serving alongside different squadrons and specialising in roles with a variety of equipment and in different environments. You&rsquo;ll also be provided with countless opportunities for ongoing personal and professional development.
<div class="p" >Additional Information</div>
The knowledge and skills you&rsquo;ll develop and refine in this role are highly regarded in a career in the Air Force, as well as the private industry. The training will prepare you, and the job will sharpen you. 
Working with highly classified information isn&rsquo;t for everyone. But for some, knowing that you&rsquo;re making a difference and protecting our country far outweighs these challenges. There&rsquo;s nothing in the civilian world that compares.
This is one of the most unique and impactful roles in the Air Force. Even though the job won&rsquo;t always be glamorous, you&rsquo;ll be surrounded by an incredibly devoted team.
