Eligibility Checklist

Receive nationally recognised trade training
Join the ADF and learn a trade. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need, be paid while you train and can earn industry-recognised qualifications. 
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those seeking nationally recognised trade training to undertake hands-on tasks.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Air Force you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Technical

You&rsquo;ll consolidate your Initial Employment Training with on-the-job training and work towards a nationally recognised qualification. You could expect to complete the requirements for the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician after 36 months of on-the-job training.
There are a number of specialist Airfield Engineering courses that will provide you with further training across a variety of subjects to provide skillsets in order to meet operational requirements. As an Electrician, you&rsquo;ll also be required to undertake core training courses required for your career progression.

General Entry: Qualified

There are a number of specialist Airfield Engineering courses that will provide you with further training across a variety of subjects to provide skill sets in order to meet operational requirements. As an Electrician, you will also be required to undertake core training courses required for your career progression.

As an Electrician, you&rsquo;ll provide specialist electrical support to Air Force operations within Australia and overseas. You&rsquo;ll be trained to maintain runway lighting and install power reticulation for new developments on established air bases. Working across a range of different environments, from humanitarian relief missions to deployments with the Army, you&rsquo;ll enjoy a trade career like no other.

You&rsquo;ll be responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems in a range of settings, from air bases and construction sites to temporary airfields in remote locations in Australia or overseas. You can expect to be deployed regularly in support of expeditionary air operations.

Take on a unique and rewarding role where you’ll install and maintain power generation and distribution systems on air bases and temporary airfields in Australia and overseas.
