Join without qualifications
There are many excellent career options in the ADF that generally don&rsquo;t require experience or qualifications. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need and be paid while you train.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those seeking general roles and career opportunities.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

Trained

Your salary once trained

In the Air Force you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Non-technical

There are a number of specialist Airfield Engineering courses that will provide you with further training across a variety of subjects to provide skill sets in order to meet operational requirements. As a Plant Operator, you&rsquo;ll also be required to undertake core training courses required for your career progression.

As a Plant Operator, you&rsquo;ll provide valuable civil construction support to the Air Force and wider ADF. Operating a range of heavy earthmoving equipment, you&rsquo;ll contribute to the construction and maintenance of pavements, site excavations, and emergency airfield repair and recovery activities.

You'll be an integral member of a team that includes a variety of trades, constructing essential facilities in fixed and deployed locations. Using heavy material and earthmoving plant equipment and vehicles, you'll establish temporary airfields that often need to be constructed at short notice.

Operate earthmoving equipment and contribute to the construction and maintenance of airfields and infrastructure on air bases and temporary airfields in Australia and overseas.
