<p>Avionics Technicians are employed in a variety of Aviation Units throughout Australia including Brisbane, Oakey and Townsville, QLD, Sydney, NSW; and Darwin, NT.</p>

You will be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications; and your pay increases as you progress through training.<br><br>In addition to your salary you'll receive a variety of allowances, extra pay for relevant qualifications – plus 16.4% superannuation, a far higher rate than you're likely to find in the civilian world.

<p>An Avionics Technician is a soldier who is responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, refurbishing, modifying and recovering Army aircraft communication, navigation, radar, electrical, electronics and instrument systems and selected ground equipment. Avionics Technicians also conduct limited inspections and repairs on aircraft structures, safety equipment and armament.</p><p>The types of aircraft that Avionics Technicians could maintain during their career are the Eurocopter EC665 Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter, the Boeing CH47 Chinook, the Multi-Role Helicopter (MRH90) or the Sikorsky S-70A-9 Black Hawk.</p><p>The main job functions are as follows:</p><ul><li>Carry out scheduled and unscheduled servicing, overhauls and repairs to aircraft electrical instruments and electronic systems and equipment</li><li>Operate and maintain test equipment and special tooling associated with the trade</li><li>Operate and maintain workshop plant, equipment and vehicles</li><li>Act as crew members during flight testing to diagnose faults</li><li>Identify and investigate defects and recommend remedial action in the areas covered by the trade and</li><li>Maintain technical manuals and maintenance documentation for aircraft and related equipment</li></ul><p>An Avionics Technician normally works in an established workshop or on tarmacs on aircraft flight lines or in the field environment.</p>
