Receive nationally recognised trade training
Join the ADF and learn a trade. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need, be paid while you train and can earn industry-recognised qualifications. 
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those seeking nationally recognised trade training to undertake hands-on tasks.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Army you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Technical

After 6 years, you'll not only have full knowledge of your trade in the Army, but also excellent long-term employment prospects. As your trade training will be fully accredited, you’ll be able to transfer your skills and qualifications to work outside the ADF, if you wish, providing you with more opportunities in the future.

As a Carpenter in the Army, you’ll be trained in planning, materials sourcing, equipment maintenance and all aspects of carpentry and serve in either Engineer Support or in a Combat Engineer Regiment. 

You’ll get hands-on with a diverse range of projects ranging from building temporary protective structures for Army aircraft to erecting shelters for communities in need of help.

You’ll perform advanced carpentry and general building tasks associated with the construction, repair and maintenance of domestic and light industrial structures. You’ll also provide carpentry and construction support during exercises/operations and may be required to deploy around Australia and overseas.

Gain trade skills and tackle diverse building projects, helping construct and maintain buildings, facilities and temporary structures on exercises and deployments.
