Eligibility Checklist

Join without qualifications
There are many excellent career options in the ADF that generally don&rsquo;t require experience or qualifications. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need and be paid while you train.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those seeking general roles and career opportunities.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Army you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Non-technical

Once you&rsquo;ve completed your Initial Employment Training, there will be a period of approximately 18 months in which you can consolidate and apply your basic geospatial skills at the unit you have been posted. In that time, you&rsquo;ll be required to complete the Introduction to Defence Intelligence Course (IDIC) and the Defence Intelligence Research Analysis Course (DIRAC).
Course: Introduction to Defence Intelligence Course (IDIC) 
Duration: 10 days 
Location:&nbsp;Kokoda Barracks Canungra, Qld or School of Military Engineering at Holsworthy Sydney, NSW
The aim of the IDIC is to provide you with initial core training in intelligence. The emphasis throughout the course is on learning and development of the individual. The IDIC covers the minimum essential theory, but the focus is on your application of theory and skills in a practical environment.

Course: Defence Intelligence Research Analysis Course (DIRAC) 
Duration:&nbsp;15 days 
Location: Canungra, Qld
The aim of the DIRAC is to train you in research skills and analytical techniques. The emphasis throughout the course is on learning and the development of the individual, with the focus on the application of your theory and skills in a practical environment.

As a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst, you&rsquo;ll play a key role in keeping command informed by creating accurate, engaging maps and other geospatial intelligence products. You&rsquo;ll play a critical role by providing command with an overall assessment of the operating environment. The products and advice you produce will influence the decision-making of senior commanders across the ADF.

Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) includes the capture, collection, manipulation, analysis, management, portrayal, reproduction and dissemination of geospatial information and intelligence. In other words, you&rsquo;ll use geospatial mapping tools, software, equipment and platforms to produce accurate and visually appealing maps and geospatial intelligence products.

Contribute to Army mobility by producing detailed maps and other geospatial intelligence to help command make informed navigation and operational decisions.
