Become an officer with your existing degree
If you have a recognised degree in a field such as Medicine, Law, Dentistry, Nursing, Engineering, Business or IT, you can apply for an officer role through Graduate Entry. Whether you're a recent graduate or in a career, you&rsquo;ll receive further training and postgraduate study opportunities in the ADF.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those who already have a recognised degree and want to receive further training and postgraduate study opportunities. You&rsquo;ll pursue your profession as an officer and add an exciting new dimension to your work.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

Trained

Your salary once trained

In the Army you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

Officer Entry: Graduate

As a Medical Scientist, you may also be required to undergo further training in areas such as malaria microscopic diagnosis and advanced blood transfusion procedures, or a Master’s or PhD research degree.

As a Medical Scientist, you’ll contribute to ADF health capability through research at the Australian Defence Force Malaria and Infectious Disease Institute (ADFMIDI).

Working out of the world-recognised Australian Defence Force Malaria and Infectious Disease Institute (ADFMIDI), you’ll ensure the ADF has the best possible protection against malaria and other infectious diseases through collaborative research, training and health engagement activities. ADFMIDI achieves its mission through the work of its 5 departments: 
<ul>
<li>Drug Resistance and Diagnostics </li>
<li>Drug Evaluation </li>
<li>Clinical Studies and Surveillance </li>
<li>Vector Surveillance and Control </li>
<li>Arbovirology. </li>
</ul>

ADFMIDI is staffed by experienced military officers and (civilian) public servants who conduct considerable collaborative research with strong links to academic and research organisations in Australia and across the globe.

Apply your Medical Science technical skills and expertise to research vector-borne diseases and other infectious diseases, ensuring ADF members have the best protection.
