Join without qualifications
There are many excellent career options in the ADF that generally don&rsquo;t require experience or qualifications. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need and be paid while you train.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those seeking general roles and career opportunities.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Navy you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Non-technical

Course: Aviation Medicine 
Duration: One week 
Location: Institute of Aviation Medicine at RAAF Base Edinburgh, SA

You’ll learn to understand and manage the physiological challenges of flight such as G-forces and hypoxia.

Course: Combat Survival Training 
Duration: 2 weeks 
Location: Combat Survival Training School at RAAF Base Townsville

You’ll learn how to survive in difficult and hostile environments during domestic and combat downed aircraft scenarios using SERE – Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape.

Course: Helicopter Underwater Escape Training 
Duration: One day 
Location: HMAS Albatross, Nowra, NSW

In a state-of-the-art facility, you’ll learn how to safely exit a submerged helicopter, both with and without emergency breathing devices, as well as other sea survival techniques.

Sub Specialist Option
Follow-on training may be available to Navy Aircrew:
Qualified Aircrewman Instructor: Teach others the skills that you have learnt on your way to become Navy Aircrew.

As an Aircrew member, you’ll operate and manage the sensors, weaponry and radar onboard a Navy helicopter. You'll be a key part of the action contributing to the success of a range of missions including search and rescue, casualty evacuation and combat operations.

In this role, every day is different. One day you might be operating weapons in a moving helicopter, the next you could be leaping into the ocean to rescue civilians or using sensors to locate submarines. It's a fast-paced role that will see you take on a variety of responsibilities in an exciting and challenging work environment.

Take to the skies in a Navy helicopter and undertake a variety of rewarding missions like search and rescue, anti-submarine operations and aerial weapon support.
