<div class="p" >You will generally be based at HMAS Stirling on Garden Island, Western Australia less than an hours drive south of Perth.</div>

You will be paid while you study. On completion of your degree, Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you'll earn at least:

In the Navy you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications; and your pay increases as you progress through training. In addition to your salary you'll receive a variety of allowances, extra pay for relevant qualifications – plus 16.4% superannuation, a far higher rate than you're likely to find in the civilian world.

<div class="p">As an Electronics Engineer Submariner (known in the Navy as a Weapons Electrical Engineering Officer Submariner) you will be one of the Navy's electronics and combat systems engineering experts. You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of communications, sonar, navigation, combat data, fire control and weapons systems onboard an advanced submarine.</div>
<div class="p">While at sea you will lead a team of highly skilled electronics technicians to make sure the advanced systems onboard the submarine are ready for the mission. You will be the engineering authority onboard providing critical advice to the Commanding Officer so the right decisions can be made. In shore based positions you will perform duties in support of the fleet including system specification, acquisition and through-life support, system certification, combat system trials and the broader training and management of electronics technicians and junior engineers.</div>
As an Electronics Engineer Submariner, you will be involved in:

Navy Engineers not only get to lead specialised technical teams and work on advanced maritime platforms and systems, but they have the opportunity to continue their professional learning right throughout their career. The professional development you gain as a Navy Engineer enables automatic Chartered Engineer (CPEng) accreditation with Engineers Australia, giving you international recognition of your engineering competency.
To assist in your role, you will have access to both government and private support organisations where you will work closely with military, Defence civilians and contractors on a regular basis. This may involve working outside the Navy program in the Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group or even placed within contractor organisations. 
Electronics Engineer submariners are heavily involved with resource management, assigning and scheduling personnel, assets, equipment and finances to the task at hand. Ashore, you could be responsible for the project management, provision of financial estimates or the progression of technical works requirements or maintenance programs. 
As an officer, you'll learn additional skills and duties to become highly trained and efficient in supporting the security and safety of the submarine and personnel onboard. This involves providing leadership, management, administration and career advice to sailors and junior officers within your division.
