Receive nationally recognised trade training
Join the ADF and learn a trade. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need, be paid while you train and can earn industry-recognised qualifications.

As a Weapons and Sensors Network Technician Nuclear Submariner, you&rsquo;ll help write a new chapter in Navy history by making a meaningful contribution to the deployment of Australia&rsquo;s first conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines. Specialising in Fire Control, you&rsquo;ll receive training in the operation and maintenance of advanced equipment onboard the submarine. You&rsquo;ll be trained in the operation, routine care and management of the combat system, vital to the accurate employment of weapons systems. The work you do ensures your nuclear-powered submarine is always combat ready.

You&rsquo;ll be responsible for the operation, routine care, repair, management, and maintenance of submarine combat control, weapons systems, electronic and electro-mechanical equipment, at sea and ashore. Ashore, you may be employed as an instructor or in support roles within headquarters, Fleet Support Units (FSU), or training schools.
Your work will require the highest standards of operational nuclear safety and security. To enable you to perform your duties, you&rsquo;ll undergo a comprehensive induction into the Nuclear Mindset. Drawing on the established nuclear cultures in the United Kingdom and the United States, Navy and the Australian Submarine Agency (ASA) have developed the Nuclear Mindset &ndash; a set of 10 principles to guide our nuclear workforce. Keeping your crew, our people, the public, and the environment safe and secure is paramount. By adopting the Nuclear Mindset, you&rsquo;ll help Navy achieve those goals.

Take on a role that will draw on your electronics expertise and sound judgment, operating and maintaining the combat and weapons systems onboard a Virginia class submarine.
