Eligibility Checklist

Join without qualifications
There are many excellent career options in the ADF that don&rsquo;t require experience or qualifications. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need and be paid while you train.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those wanting a part-time role that doesn&rsquo;t require previous experience.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

Your daily rate while training

Trained

Your daily rate once trained

The pay you receive in the Air Force Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

General Entry: Non-technical Reserve

After you have completed ABP IET and the workplace journal, which consists of additional training courses, you will transfer to the Air Force Security (AFSEC) role.

As part-time Airbase Protection and Security, you’ll assist in the protection of aircraft and facilities. Ensuring the security of airbases and the safety of people is a crucial part of the Air Force and it will be your responsibility to support the provision of a secure and safe operating environment, free of potential threats. 

This role is a pathway to the Air Force Security (AFSEC) role.

You'll work in a team undertaking tasks such as vehicle control points, observation posts, reaction force, and vehicle and foot patrolling duties. You'll use a variety of weapons, apply self-defence measures, and respond efficiently to security threats.

Step up to an exciting and varied part-time security role where you’re responsible for protecting aircraft and infrastructure and managing emergency responses.
