As a Combat Support Operator you will provide a unique general support capability to Regional Force Surveillance Unit (RFSU) under the supervision of a trade specific subject matter expert. During your Initial Employment Training (IET) you will be trained to perform the following:
1. The simple tasks to assist with unit administration
2. The core tasks of an RFSU supplier
3. Interpret and use ADF documentation
4. Workplace Health and Safety
5. Apply navigational skills when employed as a co-driver of a military B vehicle
6. Operator maintenance and servicing requirements
7. Apply hygiene and safe food handling practices within a field kitchen environment
Once you are proficient on all these training outcomes you will be able to provide the basic support requirements of administration, supply, catering and transport support. This will prepare you for attendance on the following specialist courses:
1. Administrative Assistant Specialist Course
2. Supply Assistant Specialist Course
3. Driver Light Vehicle GS Course (Licence Code C2)
4. Catering Assistant Specialist Course
Completion of a specialist course will enable you to provide a specific Combat Service Support (CSS) function to RFSU to facilitate Patrolman reconnaissance and surveillance patrols within the limit of your skill grade. You will have the option of qualifying on two of these courses; however, you must attend one as a minimum.

<div class="p" >Main Job Functions </div>
During the performance of your role as a Combat Support Operator you will have the opportunity to employ night fighting equipment, communications systems, apply navigation skills by day and night, apply individual field craft and battle craft techniques, maintain physical fitness and apply emergency care. In addition, you will be able to perform the core functions of a Combat Support Operator as follows:
<div class="p" >Administrative Assistant Specialist: The Administrative Assistant is employed to assist with unit personnel administration and management of unit documents within the administration office of an RFSU. </div>
<div class="p" >Supply Assistant Specialist: The Supply Assistant is employed to provide supply functions and assist in the daily running of the main Quartermaster Store within an RFSU.</div>
<div class="p" >Driver Light Vehicle GS: The Combat Support Operator driver is employed to operate light GS Military vehicles with a &frac12; tonne trailer, on public thoroughfares and over difficult terrain, by day and night within the RFSU AR.</div>
<div class="p" >Catering Assistant Specialist: The Catering Assistant is employed to provide a limited field catering capability to the RFSU. </div>
