Use your degree and become a leader in your field
If you already have a degree, you can advance your current profession and apply your tertiary qualifications part time as a Graduate Reserve.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those who already have a recognised degree.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

Officer Entry: Graduate Reserve

Course: Military Public Affairs Officer Advanced Course (MPAOAC) 
Duration: 12 days 
Location: Defence Command Support Training Centre (DCSTC), Simpson Barracks, Melbourne, Vic 

This course is a blended learning course of 6 online sessions over 6 weeks followed by a 6-day residential phase. 

This course will prepare senior Military Public Affairs Officers with the theoretical and practical capability to work effectively and collaboratively with international partners and domestic stakeholders across the complex and dynamic information environment. Assessments focus on MPA planning and coordination, incident management, media embed coordination, and mentoring junior MPA personnel.

Course: Information Operations Staff Officer Course (IOSOC) 
Duration: 10 days 
Location: RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW 

This course prepares you to plan and manage Information Operations (IO), both offensive and defensive and to coordinate IO activities with other agencies. 

In addition, you may also have to complete the following courses once you’re posted to your unit: 
<ul>
<li>Unit Public Affairs Officer Course (UPAO) </li>
<li>Joint Warfighting – Planning Foundations Course 113979 </li>
<li>Social Media Practitioners Course. </li>
</ul>

As a part-time Public Relations Officer, you’ll have the opportunity to use your existing qualifications and skills to carefully manage the profile of one of Australia’s largest organisations in challenging new environments.

You’ll be in charge of a small dynamic team of communication specialists, where you’ll develop communication strategies, conduct media awareness training and advise commanders. 

You’ll also plan, gather and manage Army video and imagery content, prepare press releases and liaise with the media – as well as enjoy plenty of opportunities for travel as you fulfil media escort and command support duties.

Develop, implement and monitor communication strategies in this part-time role that has an important impact on how the Army is perceived in the broader community.
