If you're a driven and ambitious individual, the ADF will teach you to lead teams, mentor others and manage complex scenarios as an officer. As long as you&rsquo;re a school leaver who has passed Year 12, you can join, learn to lead and mentor others.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Year 12 graduates or qualified professionals.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

Officer Entry: Reserve

You may also complete further training in Water Transport, Movement Planning, or Air Dispatch, which can include parachuting.

As a part-time Transport Officer, you’ll control and operate Army-owned surface transport vehicles, and provide movement control, postal services and Army aspects of air logistics support. You’ll also be responsible for delivering the Army's petrol, oils, food, equipment and ammunition.

This meaningful role is part of the <a href="/careers/joining/pathways?page-tab=army ">Army Officer – Command career pathway</a>, where you’ll learn the fundamentals of being a leader to a team of soldiers, including mentorship, influence, problem solving, decision making and much more. No leadership experience is required, and you’ll be allocated to your specific role before you graduate from training.

This is an Army Officer – Command Pathway role. This means you’ll enter the Army to be trained as a General Service Officer. You’ll receive world class training that will build you from the ground up to command, lead and manage across a broad spectrum of environments within the Army and within a specialisation. 

The area of your specialisation will depend on your preference, performance and position availability. Within your first posting out of training you’ll apply these skills and likely lead a team of highly trained soldiers. As you progress in your career you’ll be exposed to development opportunities across a range of postings to prepare you for your next leadership roles.

Army Officer – Command career pathways

You’ll lead teams in one or 2 of the following areas: 
<ul>
<li>Road Transport – command a troop with up to 50 people and 30 vehicles ranging from G-Wagons and rigid 4-tonne trucks to triple road train semi-trailers.</li>
<li>Air Dispatch – command a troop with up to 45 people responsible for packing parachutes, storing parachute equipment and rigging loads for air drop operations; this role may involve becoming parachute qualified. The trade actively supports airborne, airmobile and airland operations providing aerial logistic resupply and force insertion.</li>
<li>Movements – command a troop of up to 20 people, developing plans and coordinating and controlling the operational deployment, sustainment and redeployment of up to 10,000 people within Australia and overseas.</li>
</ul>

Manage complex logistical operations and lead teams involved in delivering the Army's fuel, ammunition, equipment and provisions in this exciting part-time role.
