Receive nationally recognised trade training
Join the ADF and use your existing trade skills in a unique military environment.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those with a nationally recognised trade seeking to undertake hands-on tasks.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

Trained

Your daily rate once trained

The pay you receive in the Navy Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

General Entry: Technical Reserve

Promotion Courses
Courses which prepare you for promotion including music, leadership and management will be provided by Navy at various stages of your Reserve career. They will include live-in and distance-learning formats.
Qualified Entry Sailor Musicians do not undergo formalised musical training on entry.

As a part-time Musician, you&rsquo;ll be paid to play and promote the Navy around Australia and overseas, as a part-time member of the Royal Australian Navy Band.
If you&rsquo;re looking to experience adventure and excitement outside the everyday, earn tax-free pay and work as part of a close-knit team, this is an exciting opportunity that can work around your lifestyle.

For this role you&rsquo;ll need to play one of the following instruments:
<ul>
 <li>Brass: euphonium, French horn, trombone, trumpet/cornet/bugle, tuba</li>
 <li>Keyboard: piano</li>
 <li>Strings: bass guitar, double bass, guitar</li>
 <li>Woodwind: clarinet, flute/piccolo, oboe (including cor anglais), saxophone, bassoon</li>
 <li>Vocals</li>
 <li>Drums and percussion</li>
 <li>Indigenous Cultural Performer: yidaki.</li>
</ul>
