On appointment as a Physiotherapist you will usually be posted to a Health Battalion or large Medical Centre, in the commissioned rank of Lieutenant. 
You could expect to remain in this posting for one to three years.

You will be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

Trained

Your salary once trained

In the Army you'll get paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications; and your pay increases as you progress through training. In addition to your salary you'll receive a variety of allowances, extra pay for relevant qualifications – plus 16.4% superannuation, a far higher rate than you're likely to find in the civilian world.

Officer Entry: Graduate

Opportunities exist for physiotherapists to attend update/ refresher courses whilst employed by the Army, and physiotherapists may be sponsored for postgraduate courses (as part time or external students) if a service requirement exists.

The Australian Army employs registered physiotherapists in Army health units and Joint Health Command garrison medical centres. These officers form part of the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC).
Main Job Functions:
During your service you can expect a variety of employments which may include:
<ul>
 <li>Physiotherapy duties in a static deployed hospital caring for pre and post operative patients</li>
 <li>Physiotherapy of wounded and injured patients in a field hospital</li>
 <li>Rehabilitation support to patients after extensive surgery or illness</li>
 <li>Working with physical training instructors (PTIs) to support patient rehabilitation and conditioning</li>
 <li>Sports medicine physiotherapy, (ie sports injuries management and prevention), to units and Army sports</li>
 <li>Depending on postings, some physiotherapists may deploy with their units to remote and austere areas</li>
</ul>

Take on rewarding new challenges providing Army personnel with a variety of physiotherapy services, on base, on exercises and on deployments at home and overseas.
