Receive nationally recognised trade training
Join the ADF and learn a trade. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need, be paid while you train and can earn industry-recognised qualifications. 
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those seeking nationally recognised trade training to undertake hands-on tasks.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Army you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Technical

Course: On-the-Job Training 
Duration: 6 months 
Location: Army Aviation Training Centre, Oakey, Qld 

While undertaking your on-the-job training, you’ll also complete the appropriate aircraft equipment maintenance type course at the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME) Aircraft Maintenance School at Oakey, spending time training in an operational unit. The aircraft type course you’ll be taught on will depend on the Army's needs.

As an Aircraft Technician, you’ll be a multi-skilled soldier responsible for inspecting, testing, repairing, rebuilding, refurbishing, modifying and recovering Army aircraft airframes, engines and ancillary equipment.

Working from an established workshop, on the tarmac or in a field environment, you’ll work on some of the world’s most advanced aircraft such as the Eurocopter EC665 Tiger Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter, the Boeing CH47 Chinook and the Sikorsky UH 60 M Black Hawk. 

You’ll specialise in the inspection, modification, repair, testing and recovery of Army aircraft, engines, armament and safety and ancillary equipment.

Get your hands on advanced military helicopters such as the Black Hawk, Chinook, and Tiger , maintaining their airframes, engines, armaments and ancillary equipment.
