Eligibility Checklist

Become an officer with your existing degree
If you have a recognised degree in a field such as Medicine, Law, Dentistry, Nursing, Engineering, Business or IT, you can apply for an officer role through Graduate Entry. Whether you're a recent graduate or in a career, you&rsquo;ll receive further training and postgraduate study opportunities in the ADF.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those who already have a recognised degree and want to receive further training and postgraduate study opportunities. You&rsquo;ll pursue your profession as an officer and add an exciting new dimension to your work.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

Your salary once trained

In the Army you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

Officer Entry: Graduate

During your first posting you’ll also undergo training in trauma management and occupational medicine.

Use your degree to move into medicine
Graduates who hold an appropriate undergraduate degree, have successfully completed the Graduate Australian Medical Schools Admission Test (GAMSAT) and have been accepted into an Australian university, can apply to enter the ADF through the Graduate Medical Program. If successful, you&rsquo;ll be sponsored as a medical practitioner, then serve as a Medical Officer. 
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those with a degree looking to move into medicine through the Graduate Medical Program.

You'll be paid while you study. On completion of your degree, Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you'll earn at least:

Have your current studies sponsored
As an undergraduate studying for a role-relevant degree at an accredited university of your choice, you can join the ADF via Defence University Sponsorship (DUS). This means you&rsquo;ll have your fees paid for, earn a salary while you complete your degree, and walk straight into a great ADF role following graduation.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those already studying a relevant degree (or in some cases, those who have accepted an offer) at an Australian university. You&rsquo;ll earn a salary while you study and have the remainder of your university fees paid in return for a commitment to an officer role.

As a Doctor, you’ll serve in a range of deployable health units, providing quality healthcare and medical intervention to keep the Army fit and healthy.
You’ll work in a combination of primary healthcare settings including clinics and health centres. You may deploy to a field environment to support domestic training exercises or overseas for international engagement activities and operations.

You’ll provide specialist healthcare services on land or sea, in humanitarian situations and major international activities, as well as important operations. You’ll work with modern advanced technology, health equipment and materials as part of a dynamic health team. 
Due to the ever-changing global situation, your patients will vary from ADF members to refugees (including children and the elderly) and combat casualties. This is a role where you can expand your horizons and further your knowledge in new areas.

Help keep the Army fit and effective, applying your medical skills to challenging new scenarios and having the opportunity to expand your professional expertise.
