Receive nationally recognised trade training
Join the ADF and learn a trade. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need, be paid while you train and can earn industry-recognised qualifications.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Army you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Technical

Throughout your military career, you’ll undertake formal courses of both a military and technical nature to be eligible for promotion and widen your technical competence.

As a Plumber, you’ll provide and commission plumbing, drainage, sanitary systems, water supply, roof plumbing, hydraulic and mechanical services, and intermediate gas plumbing. You’ll contribute to the construction, installation, renovation, repair and maintenance of domestic, industrial, commercial and military structures. 

Army Plumbers serve in the Royal Australian Engineers, in both Construction Squadrons and Combat Engineer Regiments.

Working as part of a team of highly trained soldiers, you’ll provide vital services such as water and gas supply for military installations and humanitarian aid. You’ll perform a range of duties, from assisting with site preparation to maintaining tools and equipment, and ordering supplies and stores. As a soldier, you’ll also contribute to your unit, and the success of Army exercises and operations.

Take on plumbing projects you won’t find in civilian life by bringing your skills and qualifications to a role that ensures the Army has clean water supplies wherever it goes.
