Eligibility Checklist

Use your specialisation and become a leader in your field
If you&rsquo;re already qualified in healthcare, finance, law, chaplaincy, management, aviation, engineering or education, you can join the ADF part-time as a Specialist Reserve.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those who are a specialist in specific fields.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

Your daily rate once trained

The pay you receive in the Air Force Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

Officer Entry: Specialist Reserve

You’ll be offered further employment training to conduct your role as required. This training may include both military and civilian training courses.

As a part-time Dentist, you’ll provide the highest standards of dental care to members of the ADF. You’ll be an integral part of the Defence Health System, offering a range of services that complement and supplement those provided by the full-time Air Force. 

If you’re looking to experience adventure and excitement outside the everyday, earn tax-free pay and work as part of a close-knit team, this is an exciting opportunity that can work around your lifestyle.

You’ll be responsible for the clinical assessment and treatment of ADF members and you’ll work with dental assistants who will give you all the support needed to provide the highest level of oral healthcare. You'll be trained in military skills and work in small teams where you'll operate within Australia and overseas. You can also expect to work on sea and land with Navy and Army colleagues or with other coalition forces. You may also work with other Whole of Australian Government organisations providing comprehensive healthcare on both international and humanitarian operations.

Take your part-time career in an exciting new direction, practicing in established and mobile clinics in Australia and overseas, looking after the dental health of ADF members.
