Eligibility Checklist

Use your specialisation and become a leader in your field
If you&rsquo;re already qualified in healthcare, finance, law, chaplaincy, management, aviation, engineering or education, you can join the ADF part-time as a Specialist Reserve.
Who it&rsquo;s for:&nbsp;Those who are a specialist in specific fields.

You'll be paid to train and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Initial Employment Training, you’ll earn a tax-free daily rate of at least:

The pay you receive in the Air Force Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax.

Officer Entry: Specialist Reserve

You’ll be offered further employment training to conduct your role as required. This training may include: 
<ul>
<li>early management of severe trauma </li>
<li>Deployed Surgical Trauma Course (DSTC) or Emergency War Surgery Course </li>
<li>collective training with other members of the unit including military exercises. </li>

As a part-time Doctor, you’ll provide the highest standards of patient care and lead teams in a variety of environments. You’ll be an integral part of the Defence Health System, offering a range of services that complement and supplement those provided by the full-time Air Force.

You’ll provide primary healthcare, occupational and aerospace medicine services on Air Force bases to ensure the health and fitness of Air Force and ADF personnel. In doing this, you’ll be enabling our nation's air defence capabilities to remain operational. 

There will be plenty of opportunities to work in the deployed environment. You might apply your specialist skills in aerospace medicine to the Air Force’s aeromedical evacuation system, support deployed members during operations and exercises, or support civilian populations in humanitarian and disaster response. You’ll also have the opportunity to work alongside Navy and Army members.

Be a doctor with a difference, providing primary healthcare and aerospace medicine services across a variety of diverse settings within Australia and abroad on a part-time basis.
