Join without qualifications
There are many excellent career options in the ADF that generally don&rsquo;t require experience or qualifications. You&rsquo;ll receive all the training you need and be paid while you train.

You'll be paid while you train, and on completion of your Initial Military Training and Employment Training, you’ll earn at least:

In the Air Force you'll be paid a good salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications.

General Entry: Non-technical

Fire Fighters are also required to complete postgraduate and trade-specific courses as part of career progression, including pre-requisites for promotion and regrading.

As a Fire Fighter, you&rsquo;ll be employed on duties within Air Force's emergency services (Force Protection) structure. You&rsquo;ll be part of highly skilled and motivated teams, protecting both life and property from various situations. A minimum crew of 4 members provide Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) or Structural Rescue and Fire Fighting (SRFF) support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week therefore members of the Fire Fighter role are rostered on rotating shifts.

You'll be trained in advanced first aid and given the skills to respond quickly and decisively to aircraft crashes, motor vehicle accidents, wildfires and chemical contamination. Your critical mission will be to minimise casualties and the destruction of infrastructure and environment, while ensuring the safety of aircraft and defence assets to help maintain Air Force capability. You may also provide aid to the civil community when required.

Take on a fire and rescue career with unique and rewarding challenges, providing aircraft rescue and firefighting services on base and on deployments to remote locations.
